Lac La Biche is the gateway to Lakeland Provincial Park and can be found 220 km northeast of Edmonton and 291 km south of Fort McMurray. The town is one of the oldest communities in Alberta with a history dating back to 1798. Over 175,000 tourists come to Lac La Biche every year to enjoy the over 150 lakes and 250 km of trails located in the region. Those who call Lac La Biche home can enjoy 70% of Alberta’s best white-sand beaches located right in their backyards. The economic base in the town is very diversified with its forestry, natural gas, agriculture, government services and education, small businesses, and tourism.

Over 2,700 people consider Lac La Biche home, and it serves a marketplace of over 10,000 individuals. The community prides itself on its cultural and ethnic diversity, paying special tribute to its Aboriginal Community with its annual Pow Wow Days and Kak Ki Yaw Cultural Camp. Boasting a strong volunteer community, several events and activities are planned throughout the year to create a social atmosphere. The town offers a variety of services, such as churches, a hospital, a swimming pool, a public library, a community college, and a golf course.
